Portrait by Rama HughesHi. I'm Christine, and this is a slice of my life--a sweet, rich, wildly indulgent slice that would taste really good with a scoop of Breyers vanilla bean ice cream.

I write because I'm delusional: I imagine things and I imagine people want to read them.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy your stay.

about the site
The site is updated whenever I feel like it with the help of Movable Type, MT-Blacklist, iTunes and coffee. I also rely on the help of smart people for their expertise. Everything else, I owe to you.

Unless I tell you otherwise, I drew the pictures and took the photographs throughout the site. (The portrait above, for example, was drawn by the marvelous Rama on a cocktail napkin in a dark bar, not me.) Please don't steal my stuff or I'll get cranky, and you don't want to see me cranky.

To see more of my illustration and design, please visit my darling little studio.

how to contact me
1) Write me a love note.

2) Send secret messages via telepathy.

Note: I try to respond, but sometimes it takes longer than I'd like. Before you write, you may want to check out the F.A.Q. where I've tackled questions I get asked a lot, like "How do I build a web site?" and "What's that pretty font you use?"

You can also join the world famous Good Things & Everything Else mailing list here. (By "world famous" I mean "kind of popular with my family and friends.") I send e-mail every week or so.

about the categories
I've been known to fall in love with the littlest -- and, sometimes, strangest -- things. By the next day, I've often forgotten about it, but for a fleeting moment, that thing is my one true love.

I've been keeping a diary since I was a pre-teenager. I hid spiralbound notebooks beneath my bed, taking them out to record the day's events. In college, I stored them on my Mac SE, and in 1999, I started writing on the Web. Call this a journal, a blog, or a crying shame. To me, it's just a silly ol' diary.

Sometimes, I go places. If I'm lucky, I have so much fun that I want to tell everyone about it. The entries marked Field Trip are logs of those travels, whether it's a jaunt to the zoo or a trip halfway across the world.

Watch me as I attempt to kick Martha Stewart's ass. Not literally, of course. This is where I document the craft projects I attempt and, when luck is on my side, complete.

People wear and say the darnedest things, often leaving me wondering what on earth they were thinking. This is a record of people I come across in my day to day. This exercise in detail and objectivity began as a side project here.

I waste film. A lot of it. I have stacks of photo albums and boxes filled with photographs still to be filed. On the rare occasion that I take and post digital images, you can find them here.

Think of this space as my fridge and imagine the sketches and paintings tacked on with magnets.

This is the stuff that doesn't really fit anywhere else but is still fab enough that I want to share it with you.
